UMEZ and LMCC Award 2018 UMAE Grantees
UMEZ and LMCC are proud to announce the inaugural round of grants from the UMEZ Arts Engagement program. Grants totaling to $250,000 have been awarded to 37 individual artists and smaller organizations covering a wide variety of the arts spectrum, from new media to theater to visual arts. Projects will take place throughout Upper Manhattan, representing neighborhoods in all four uptown Community Boards.
In December 2017, UMEZ announced that it would extend its support for arts and culture organizations in Upper Manhattan through UMEZ Arts Engagement (UMAE) grants. This grant program was designed to offer project-based support for smaller arts groups, collectives, and individual artists. To administer the program, UMEZ has partnered with Lower Manhattan Cultural Council (LMCC), an experienced regrantor of arts and culture funds that serves all of Manhattan.
Applications for the 2019 UMEZ Arts Engagement Awards are now open. Fiscally-sponsored artists and arts organizations with budgets under $750,000 may apply for up to $10,000 in funding for public engagement with their project. The deadline to apply is Tuesday, September 18th, 2018 at 5pm.
